Lauren is birthday is May 17th! She is a junior this year and is a Business Entrepreneurship major! Along with Dance Co., she is also a Study Abroad Ambassador!

Lauren has been dancing for 12 years! She danced at C.C. Dance Academy when she was four until she was eleven years old. Then she started dancing again her sophomore year of high school for her school dance program. One of her most embarrassing dance memories comes from a ballet solo: “I was performing a ballet solo for a festival and since it was outside I had to dance on one of those Velcro white dance mats. As I was doing a pirouette my foot got stuck in the Velcro and my ballet shoe stuck to it for the rest of the dance. I had to finish the number with one shoe on and everyone was laughing!”

Lauren has been with Dance Co. since her freshman year, this is her third year with us!

What is her favorite thing about Dance Co.?: “When I left high school I thought I would never get to dance again, and this organization was a life saver for me because I didn’t have to stop doing what I was most passionate about. Also the relationships you create when you dance together are the kinds of friendships that are unique and last forever. ”

Next we have new member, Hannah Glasscock!

Hannah’s birthday is April 25th! She is from Roxboro, North Carolina! This is her freshman year here at The Dub and is majoring in Chemistry!

Hannah has been dancing 15 years! She started when she was three years old at Christi’s Dance Center. She has a really funny dance story!: “At my senior dance recital, I had just hopped off stage for a quick change into a pointe costume.  It was already stressful enough getting into tights, a tutu, and pointe shoes under 4 minutes before my next dance when I realized I had left my tutu in my car which was about two blocks away! I scrambled out of the dressing room having only my tights and a bra on, and I ran down the street to my car to retrieve my tutu!  I then hustled back up to the room to put on my clothes.  After I had put everything on and was ready to go, I then realized I had on a blue thong that wasn’t so slightly under my thin, pink tights! I didn’t have time to take everything back off, so instead I cut the sides of my thong off and pulled it off out of my tights.  I then climbed on stage to make an awesome performance! That was for sure the most stressful four minutes of my life!” – Please don’t forget anything in your car Showcase day!

This is Hannah’s first year with Dance Co.!

What is her favorite thing about it so far?: “I love being able to be with close friends and to share a passion for dance with everyone.  It’s fun to be able to get away from school work for a while and relieve some stress by dancing to some funky music!”

Fun/Interesting Fact about Hannah:

“I fell off one of the old water slides that used to be at every pool at Carolina Beach when I was about 3.  I tilted backwards and landed straight on my head.  I now have a huge scar that runs about 3 inches on the back of my head that doesn’t grow any hair!”

“My freshman year in high school, a student teacher choreographed our piece for Intro to Jazz. Our costumes were white beaters and sweatpants, and the entire dance was basically improvised twerking by a few of the older students. I remember a lot of parents having several complaints about that piece after our performance…”

Taylor has been dancing for 16 year! She started at the age of two. She’s danced at three different studios; starting out at Bobbi’s School of Dance, then Linda Kinlaw School of Dance, and finally at Elite Dance Center.

Last year, during dance, a girl kicked Taylor in the face doing an illusion (all you dancers out there know what that means). She had a broken nose, two black eyes, and a concussion. She couldn’t dance for a month. -OUCH!

Taylor’s favorite dance that she performed was a duet that she did with her younger sister last year. It was to the song “There You’ll Be”. It was a dedication to their mother who passed away in 2009.

She grew up with the same ballet teacher throughout her entire dance career, she is one of Alisha’s biggest role models in life.

For Alisha’s first recital, she was a rose petal in Beauty in the Beast.
